A grandmother and her granddaughter beg for money from the photographer while waiting for polio and measles vaccinations at the Minaret Health Centre in Herat city, Afghanistan. The centre is supported by the United Nations agency for children UNICEF and has up to a hundred patients a day. The child’s parents were recently killed by Taliban and now the elderly grandparents are the child’s only living relatives but they have no visible means of support for their young grandchild.
