Teenage girl afflicted with sleeping sickness in its terminal stages (caused by the bite of the Tetse fly infected by the parasite ‘trypanomiasis’) Her mother looks on with resigned fatigue and with the certain knowledge that the parasite has reached and crossed her daughter’s brain barrier. And that she will die soon. Sleeping sickness is inadequately if not totally incorrectly named. One of the many appalling symptoms is an interruption of sleep patterns, not causing a person sleep per se.
