Fighters loyal to one of Mogadishu’s Warlords hired to protect the photographer while he works. It is incredibly dangerous for journalists to operate anywhere in Somalia without the protection of local militias. But care has to be taken to hire the right faction of fighters in the right side of town or you can find yourself being taken hostage or executed on the whim of your protectors.
